Worsship ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Account information: email address, username, password (hashed), profile photo, bio, ministry focus, and social links
- Content you upload: videos, photos, carousel images, captions, scripture references, and any text posts or comments
- Community content: channel posts, prayer requests (which may be posted anonymously — see Section 10), and community messages
- Payment information: wallet top-up amounts and transaction history. Card details are never stored by Worsship — they are processed directly by Paystack
- Church verification submissions: church legal name, location, website, and contact details submitted for verification review
- Referral activity: your referral code usage, referred user IDs, and qualification status
Information collected automatically:
- Usage data: content viewed, likes, amens, comments, follows, tips sent, and interactions with the music library
- Session data: login timestamps and authentication tokens (stored as secure cookies)
- Device and technical data: browser type, operating system, and IP address for security and fraud prevention
- Analytics data: page views, feature usage, and engagement patterns collected via PostHog
2. How We Use Your Information
- To operate and improve the Worsship platform and deliver your feed
- To process wallet top-ups, tips, channel payments, and creator withdrawals
- To send notifications about activity on your content and account
- To verify church accounts and manage verification requests
- To administer the referral programme and calculate reward eligibility
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
- To communicate with you about your account, updates, and support requests
- To analyse platform usage in aggregate to improve features and performance
3. Payment Information
Payment processing is handled by Paystack (paystack.com). We do not store your card number, CVV, or bank account credentials. When you top up your wallet, your payment details go directly to Paystack's secure servers. Worsship stores only the transaction reference, amount, status, and your Worsship wallet balance. Bank account details provided for withdrawal requests are stored securely and used solely to process those withdrawals.
4. Referral Programme Data
When you participate in the Worsship referral programme, we store your referral code, the identity of users you have referred, and their qualifying action status (email verification, profile completion, follows, and wallet activity). This data is used solely to calculate and credit referral rewards. Referred users are not informed of who referred them without consent. Referral data is retained for 12 months after a referral's last qualifying event.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following service providers where necessary to operate the platform:
- Supabase — database hosting and authentication
- AWS (Amazon Web Services) — video and image storage (S3) and video processing (MediaConvert), served via CloudFront CDN
- Paystack — payment processing
- Resend — transactional email delivery
- Mux — live video streaming infrastructure
- PostHog — product analytics (anonymised where possible)
We may also disclose data where required by applicable law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
6. Data Storage and Retention
Your account data is stored on Supabase's secure servers. Videos and images are stored on AWS S3 in the EU (Ireland, eu-west-1) region and delivered globally via Amazon CloudFront. Music library files are stored in the same S3 infrastructure.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information is removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, transaction records which may be retained for up to 7 years for financial compliance purposes).
7. Anonymous Content
Worsship supports anonymous prayer requests within community channels. When you choose to post anonymously, a randomly generated faith-based nickname is assigned to your post server-side. Your real identity is not revealed to other channel members. Worsship staff with administrative access can still associate anonymous posts with your account for safety and moderation purposes.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data via your profile settings
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Object to or restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances
- Data portability where technically feasible
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@worsship.com. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Cookies and Local Storage
We use cookies and browser local storage to maintain your login session, remember your mute preferences, and improve your experience. Authentication cookies are essential for the platform to function. We also use PostHog's analytics cookie to understand how features are used. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
10. Children's Privacy
Worsship is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has created an account, we will delete that account and its associated data promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@worsship.com.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Worsship after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
